München/Taipeh, 12. Juni 2017 - CyberPower Systems bringt mit der neuen RT650EI eine unterbrechungsfreie Stromversorgung (USV) für NAS-Systeme in Büro- und Heimumgebungen auf den Markt. Die kompakte USV überprüft fortwährend den Batteriezustand und meldet zeitnah, falls ein Austausch notwendig werden sollte. Ein Feature, das bisher nur teure USVs boten. Die RT650EI kostet 120 Euro in der Anschaffung und (ver)sichert NAS-Systeme für gerade einmal 20 Cent pro Tag; gerechnet auf eine Nutzungszeit von zwei Jahren. Die USV schützt das angeschlossene NAS-System mitsamt seiner Daten gegen sämtliche Störungen aus dem Stromnetz.

NAS-Systeme sind kleine Speicherwunder. Auf ihnen lässt sich in einem Netzwerk hohes Datenvolumen speichern und abrufen. Ein NAS arbeitet ähnlich wie ein Server. Die dort zentral gespeicherten Daten müssen aber nochmals parallel gesichert werden, um ein echtes Backup zu haben. Kommt es nämlich zu einer Überspannung aus dem Stromnetz kann der Controller des NAS zerstört werden. Damit sind die Daten zwar physisch noch vorhanden, aber nicht mehr von der Festplatte lesbar. Ist ein externes Backup der Daten vorhanden, dauert die Wiederherstellung meist mehrere Stunden und muss auf einem neu angeschafften NAS vorgenommen werden.
